Arrests begin in Malaysia to curb illegal immigration

The Malaysian government has announced a crackdown on illegal immigrants since June 30.

The Malaysian government announced a recalibration

(return) program from December 2020 to repatriate illegal immigrants living in Malaysia.

This opportunity to register is ending on the 30th of this month.

Local time A statement from Malaysia’s Interior Ministry on Tuesday (June 26th) said the deadline for

validity no longer extended.

Then the combing operation will start again.

According to the ministry, 2,72,561 illegal immigrants  so far registered to go home voluntarily

under the program.

Of these, 2,43,289 have repatriated, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin.

In addition, 4,17,524 migrants have so far registered

through employers through the country’s illegal immigration legalization program Recalibration (Labor) program.

In the last five months, a total of more than 1 billion ringgit visa levy fee has  collected.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Immigration Department said that all illegal immigrants who do not participate in

the program and the owners of the companies

that work with illegal workers will prosecuted under Section 55 (b) of the 1959/63 Act of Malaysia.🔱
