Real did not allow Barcelona to be on top

Barcelona moved to the top of the La Liga points table after beating Cadiz the night before. However, Javi Hernandez’s team could not keep that place for more than a day. Real Madrid went to the top of the league as usual after beating Mallorca 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu. Carlo Ancelotti’s team has a 100% winning record in the league so far, 15 points. On the other hand, Barcelona is number two with 13 points in 5 matches, 4 wins and 1 draw.
Fede Valverde, Vinicius Jnr, Rodrigo and Antonio Rudiger scored one each for Real Madrid who were relegated.

Real Madrid played with power from the beginning of the match. Rodrigo, Toni Kroos, Dani Ceballos also got a chance to put Real Madrid forward. But none of the shots were on target. Instead, going against the flow, Mallorca took the lead on 35 minutes. Kosovo winger Vedat Muricki headed home a free-kick from outside the box on the right. That was Mallorca’s only moment of joy in the match until the end.

Before the break, Valverde equalized with a great goal. The Mallorcan got on the ball almost midway and sent a superb shot from outside the box into the net.

Even then, it seemed for a while that Real Madrid would have to be satisfied with 1 point despite playing so well. Mallorca’s goal on defense was not going to open anymore. Finally, Vinicius Jr. did that in the 72nd minute of the match. The Brazilian forward scored from Rodrigo’s pass and put Real Madrid ahead. Vini scored in 4 consecutive matches in the league. Vinny is now the youngest player to score in 4 consecutive games for Real in La Liga since Karim Benzema in 2009.

Mallorca’s defensive wall collapsed after that goal. Rodrigo himself got on the scoresheet in the 89th minute of the match, off a pass from substitute Dani Carvajal. Then Antonio Rudiger scored the fourth goal of the match for Real in added time.
