The controversial remarks made by Nupur Sharma, the sacked leader of India’s ruling BJP, about the Prophet of Islam,

Muhammad (peace be upon him),were first reported on the net by journalist Mohammad Juber.

The court on Tuesday arrested Juber on charges of inciting religious hatred and inciting

violence and remanded him in police custody for four days.

Juber is the co-founder of the data verification website Alt News. Zuber’s website verifies fake or rumored news information.

Alt News unmasked many false or rumored news spread by BJP.

According to Anandabazar Online, Zuber

arrested by the Delhi Police on Sunday on charges that a tweet in 2016 hurt religious sentiments.

He  remanded in police custody for one day on Monday.

The judge granted the request of the Delhi Police to take Zubair into custody for further interrogation.

The Delhi Police claimed in court that the co-founder of Alt

News had posted a series of insulting religious sentiments on the net.

The Editors Guild of India (EGI) and the Press Club of India have already condemned Zubair’s arrest.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi wrote on Twitter on Monday,
