Threat of nuclear war between US and Russia

A nuclear war between the US and Russia will kill more than 5 billion people in the world due to starvation. A study published in Nature Food Journal on Monday (August 15) has mentioned this fear. RT news.

According to the study, if the US and Russia engaged in a nuclear war, the resulting ash and soot would enter the atmosphere and block sunlight. It will disrupt agricultural production and cause more than 5 billion people to die of starvation.

Much of the speculation about nuclear war, however, comes from the horrors of bombing. The study, led by researchers at Rutgers University in the US, shows that the real suffering will come in the years after conflict, when supply chains break down and local infrastructure is destroyed and food production is disrupted.

The effects of a nuclear war would reduce the food supply capacity of major producers such as the United States, China, Germany and the United Kingdom by 90 percent. As a result, countries that are not involved in nuclear war will also face humanitarian disaster.

Meanwhile, the food production capacity of the two major exporting countries, the United States and Russia, has decreased.

If they are not completely damaged by the effects of nuclear war, import-dependent countries will be completely devastated.

Allan Roebuck, professor of climate science and co-author of the study, said the data give us one message: nuclear war must be prevented at all costs. That cannot be allowed to happen.

Earlier major volcanic eruptions, such as Mount Tambora in Indonesia in 1815 and Laki in Iceland in 1783, caused drastic changes in the climate by releasing ash into the atmosphere. This led to famine and political upheaval.

In fact, climate scientists worry that filling the atmosphere with toxic particles could have unintended consequences and lead to further climate instability.
