US Air Force says it directed effective hypersonic weapon test

The US Air Force said on Monday it had led an effective trial of a hypersonic weapon, which flew at multiple times the speed of sound.

The test was led on Saturday off the shore of Southern California when a B-52 aircraft delivered an Air-sent off Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW), the Air Force said in a proclamation.

“Following partition from the airplane, the ARRW’s promoter touched off and consumed for anticipated span, accomplishing hypersonic speeds multiple times more prominent than the speed of sound,” it said.

The United States isn’t the only one to create hypersonic weapons, whose speed and mobility make them hard to track and block.

Russia has discharged hypersonic rockets at focuses in Ukraine and China has tried hypersonic weapons, US military authorities have said. China’s unfamiliar service denied in October that it had led a weapons test.
